Nelson Regional Development Agency's mission is to unlock the economic potential of Nelson Tasman to enable our people and places to thrive.
We do this by leading inclusive and regenerative economic development, supporting our businesses and people to grow, and shaping and amplifying our profile to attract people, business, and investment to the region. NRDA is a Council Controlled Organisation established on 1 July 2016 following the merger of the former Nelson Regional Economic Development Agency and Nelson Tasman Tourism.
NRDA is 100% owned by Nelson City Council and receives a funding contribution from Tasman District Council that enables NRDA services to be delivered with a Nelson Tasman combined regional focus. NRDA also maintains responsibilities as the official Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) for the Nelson Tasman region and is a member of Regional Tourism NZ.
We are governed by a highly-competent, private sector-focused board of independent directors that have a commitment to the future prosperity of our region. The board members are appointed by Nelson City Council and guide the strategic direction of NRDA while monitoring business activities.

The vision
The Cable Bay Adventure Park’s vision is of a mini national park like area, with a range of activities to suit everyone. Less than 15 minutes from Nelson city, on the way to the idyllic Cable Bay, people can experience a range of activities, utilise the on-site café or immerse themselves in nature, with options rain or shine.
The property has almost 400 Hectares of native forest, including massive Matai, Totara and Kahikatea, some of which are estimated to be over 2,000 years old, as well as almost every species of native NZ trees that are found naturally in the south island.
A large portion of the forested area is classified as a Significant Natural Area (SNA) by the Nelson City council and it is currently the top priority SNA site in the Nelson region
The development of the trail network has not only benefited the recreation opportunities but allowed access into previously inaccessible areas making proactive conservation management of the area possible. Our belief is that through creating access options and promoting responsible recreation and education opportunities, people develop a greater sense of worth of these areas and are more likely to actively help advocate for, nurture and protect these wonderful natural areas.
The Adventure Park is working with a range of organisations and individuals to help protect and enhance the area, possum trapping has so far seen almost 1200 possums removed from the block, through the Nelson City council and Future Ecology riparian planting on the Wakapuaka river banks and old Man’s beard eradication programs are on-going. Goat and pig populations are being reduced and native restoration programs are being developed for areas previously cleared and planning for native regeneration currently in plantation forest.
The Adventure Park is committed to developing the park in ways that align with Maori culture and the local tangata whenua, Ngati Tama

Because we know Every Bite Matters, Proper elevates the usual mindless munch to an eating experience - a snack that satisfies taste buds, body and soul.
Proper was founded on a longing for a real potato crisp. And when we say real, we mean really real - like the traditional crisps people used to make before robots started messing with our food.
Cooked by hand and seasoned with care, that first crisp was not just better, it was transcendent. Memorable, shareable and addictively delicious. It awakened a fire within us, starting a movement for meaningful snacks that continues to this day.
Its why Proper snacks are cooked by people and hand selected for perfection, every potato, every crisp, every cracker.
Are we obsessed? We prefer devoted. For us, the result makes it all worthwhile. Real, scrumptious, and cooked by hand since always – snacks that are meaningful not mindless. Because every bite matters. So come, open a bag and experience the great Snack Awakening.
